Post Christmas

Before I start, I would like to refer to my previous blog. Nope, I'm not that much of a superman to walk all the way back to the bicycle shop. We just hammered the chain back together and fixed it on the bike. Yup, not much drama, just the old fashioned stone hammering the chain fix.
Now into the blog proper :)
Christmas, ahh that time of the year where people get together to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour almost 2000 years ago. The time where people meet up to share their love in the form of gift exchanges. The time where people give red packets to each other... eh, wait that is for Chinese New Year, paiseh, wrong festival. But the shopping part is just C-R-A-Z-Y!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The crowd along Orchard Road is just freaking insane. People Mountain People Sea, Water Cannot Squeeze Through. And I find myself in that teeming mass of humanity looking for stuff for people. I tell you, if you ever get a present from me, it goes to show how much I love you. Why? First, I hate shopping, especially if I don't have anything specific to get and all I have is an imperial edict to get a present for someone. Nothing specific, just 'a present'. How vague can you get?!?! Second, I hate crowds. Yup, jostling, shoving, elbowing, pushing your way through the shops. They should change the first line of jingle bells to 'bashing through the crowd, with your arms all full of bags' Now, the fact that I transcended (wahhh big word siah) above these two hates to get something for you... you better appreciate it dude :) But that's just me.
Brought my family for a treat at Lawry's today. Yea, owed them a treat for my first salary as a fully productive member of the society. Well, the food was alright, service was excellent. But I tell you, that place should only be stepped into for a special occasion and nothing else, one meal, yet alone a family treat, there is enough to consign you to grass and sky juice for the next year or so. Ok, so I'm exaggerating, but you get the essence of what I'm saying. Right??? But of course, it just warms my heart that I'm able to bless my family this way and allow my mother to enjoy a semblance of fine dining in Singapore that she won't otherwise do so on her own :)

I'm Back!

Yup, I'm back!
It has been a 2 week break from updating my blog. Actually did not want to update it just yet until my friend asked me 'why never update ur blog?' That's when I go 'yikes! you mean you actually look forward to updating my blog?' Okay, maybe look forward is too optimistic. More like you actually read my blog?
So what's been happening?
There was night cycling last Saturday. Didn't really want to go, but my fren needed my help. *sighz* Being the nice guy that I am, I couldn't really bear to see him struggle to organise it on his own, so I went. Started from East Coast to Changi Village to Bedok Resovoir to MacPherson to Balestier to Orchard to Esplanade to Kallang and finally back to East Coast. Picked up a sore butt and aching thighs along the way too! Had some drama along the way to Changi Village. The chain broke! And there were no spare bikes! And it's a freaking loooooooonnnnnnnnnnnggggggg walk back to East Coast. It's amazing what the human mind and body can do when desperate, somehow, somehow we got the chain fixed and it held until the end! Woohoo! *two fist punch in the air, triple somersault*

Almost there!

Yup, almost there.
After last week's fiasco, debacle, whatever you call it on the basketball court, I've decided to shape up a little.
So, I ate less, exercised more and slept earlier.
I WISHED!
Okay, it isn't *that* bad, I did eat less and remembered to do my warm ups and hey presto, I didn't get run over by a bunch of kids on the basketball court. No way dude, I tangled with the big boys and left the court with my 4 limbs, pride and dignity intact. *swaggers a bit* Amen and Halleujah! :) Today the local community centre basketball, tomorrow NBA! Okay... that's a little bit ambitious. Humility Humility Humility, must remember that.

I think I have reached a certain stage in my life. I don't know what you call it, but it is kinda disconcerting. It used to be that a phone is a phone to me. Just give me something that I call, receive calls, send sms, receive sms and serves as an alarm clock and I'll be the happiest guy in this little corner of Singapore. Now, I mull over every phone I see. Ask for working models to check out the features. Collect handouts on phone specifications. I caught myself surfing nokia, sony and motorola website checking out the phones today. Yikes... and my plan has expired for 3 months already and I'm bleeding from the incompatibility of my current phone plan.

Now that's not the end of the story. Lately I have been looking at digicams. Ya, digicams. I used to be an advocate of old fashioned films. The kind where you load the films with tender love and care into the camera and listen to the blissful sound of the camera adjusting the film strips. I find myself drooling at the curvaceous lines and the slim shapely figure of the Sony DSC-P150 with 7.2 Megapixel capabilities. (P.S 7.2 Megapixel means that you can take a photo and develop it into an A4 size poster without loss of quality, that's how defined it is.) Hope I didn't stumble anyone along the way :)

*Sighz* So many things to get, so little money, so little time. Life can be so unfair sometimes *loopside grin*
